We’ve all heard the phrase dark night of the soul. It’s often described as a season of despair, emptiness, or spiritual crisis. But what if this so-called darkness is not the absence of light, but the threshold of illumination?
The soul uses darkness as fertile ground. Here, in the void, all that is false is stripped away. Here, the identities, masks, and attachments that once kept you safe are dissolved. What remains is raw. Uncomfortable. Unfamiliar. But it is also the most honest, unfiltered essence of who you are.
This is not punishment. It is initiation. It is the Phoenix fire that burns away illusion so that truth can be illuminated.
Snake Medicine: The Ancient Teacher of Transformation
